Senior Mentors

George Cometa

George is a UConn Alum with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology. He currently works as a Chemist at a Pharmacy in Massachusetts. This is his 4rd year on the team and second as a mentor. During his spare time, if any, he loves playing and watching all types of sports and enjoys choreographing dances for various groups on campus.

Lauren DellaFera

Lauren is currently a senior double majoring in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies. This is her fourth year as a team member, and third year on the board. When not dancing up a storm or slaving away to her textbooks, she can usually be found baking, making jewelry, or doing something crafty.

Alex Kellogg

Alex graduated from UConn in the Sping of 2008 with a BS in Chemical Engineering, and is currently working as a process engineer at Fuel Cell Energy. He has been dancing on the team since his sophomore year in 2005. In 2006 he held the position of team trainer, and in his senior year Alex held the position of President. One of Alex’s passions is music, and one of the reasons he enjoys ballroom dancing is that it allows him to dance to the music he loves so much.

Scott Loescher

Hi! I’m Scott. I don’t know why everyone puts there profile in the third person, so I am going to put mine in the first person. I may have trouble remembering your name, so friend me facebook and then it’ll stick. I arrange all of the official and most of the unofficial team social events because I love hanging out and spending time with my ballroom family. I am working on my masters in science education with certification at Southern, but despite graduating from UConn and living an hour away, you’ll still be seeing my face at almost all of the club and practice sessions. I am focusing in smooth, but I still love dancing and competing all four styles (even if I do complain about rhythm latin!). I am also a senior mentor on the team, so if you need any help please don’t hesitate to ask me. I love helping people learn to dance and am willing to meet with anyone outside of practice time to help with their dancing. Feel free to send me an email, facebook message, text, or call me anytime! I’m big on communication of all sorts, especially email (so check it and respond! >:O). See you on the dance floor!

Libby Lombard

Hi I’m Elizabeth Lombard but everyone calls me Libby. I have been a member of UConn ballroom since 1996 and have been on the board in various position. I was the competiton coordinator in 1997 and 98, and the social secretary in 1999. I think all of these positions no longer exist – but hey such is life. I am now employed as a registered nurse at St Francis hospital in Hartford and spend all of my time either at work or dancing. (At least it feels that way) When I can squeeze time away from ballroom I can be found reading a good book or watching anime with friends.

Andy Raynor

Andrea joined the UConn Ballroom team in the fall of 2005 as a freshman. She has since graduated with a major in Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies (that means old Greek and Roman stuff) with a minor in Women’s Studies. She likes toe socks and fringe. Also cats. You can call her “Andy” or “Andrea,” whichever you like. She never wears her glasses, so wave if you want her to recognize you from further than ten feet away!

Jason Seabury

Jason is a 3rd year graduate student in mathematics and is in his 2nd year competing on the team. He plays intramural and recreational sports of all kinds in any season, and can be a tiny bit competitive about them. He has worked hard on dance since he started, though until his Latin hips arrive (they’re in the mail), he favors Smooth/Standard. Speaking of which, he frequently elbows short, or average sized, people in the head by accident while dancing, and apologizes in advance if you are such a person.

Mark works as an Analyst for Cigna Healthcare by day, and by night is a technology consultant for the UConn Co-Op in West Hartford. When not dancing or working you can find Mark playing or watching sports of all kinds, trying to begin a culinary career, or doing pushups for Mick.
